Our crew is stuck on the Destiny millions of light years from earth. They cannot dial home. Thanks to the three part introductory story Air, however, our travelers can breathe. Life is good. No? Life is ok? No. Now that the Air storyline is done with, where will this series go? Will Rush be able to dial home or gain control of the ship? Let's see.

So here's what i liked and disliked about episode 4:

+ Dr. Rush not wanting to be disturbed by Riley. Come on. I know Rush is kind of a douche, but doesn't he kind of have a lot to do? And isn't he way smarter than you, Riley? Leave him alone. In fact, leave everyone alone, no one likes you.

- Rush saying The systems turned off for a reason! How descriptive. Do you expect anyone to believe you when that's all the detail you provide? That was as bad as earlier in the season when Eli said the door can't be opened because there's something wrong with the mechanism. Good to know these are the two smartest people on the Destiny.

- The banter between the crew about needing showers and who needs one more. An apt conversation for sure, but the delivery seemed a bit stilted.

+ Ming Na getting a little more screen time.

+ Eli's video logs. A clearly manufactured way to get some screen time for some lesser characters and let all the characters open up a bit more. I'm ok with it.

- Ming Na talking with Young about Johansen. Why would she care if TJ had resigned? Aren't there kind of greater issues? It's not like you can send her back, so why bring it up?

+ The budding relationship between Eli and Chloe. She lost her father and is clinging to him, especially when the lights go out. She feels alone. It seems to make sense. If they make out in the finale of this season though i'm done with this show.

+ The sparky relationship between Rush and Young. Young puts him in his place. I like it. Rush is kind of like Rodney, but more of a prick.

- Volker being unable to deal with Rush and being sent out of the room. Volker, are you a child? Come on. Once again, Young prevails. Feels like a family, dysfunction and all.

+ Everyone ambushing Eli and using Vanessa as bait. Ha. They were all kind of paranoid. I thought it was a bit anticlimactic with the If they tell me, i'll tell you, but i thought it worked.

+ Uh oh. Destiny drops out of FTL. Goes Dark.

- Chloe whining for Eli when it goes dark. She really thinks he'd do that as a joke? The whole scene was a little weird.

+ Rush really does sound like a crazy person.

- Riley. I don't care that you grew up on a farm. I hate you.

+ Eli coming up with at least a few options for how to get some power. Maybe you are useful.

- Telford is back and still trying to get control of the ship. Is there a reason for him being such an ass? He blames Young? Why? Is he reportign to anyone? Where's RDA?

- Go figure. Another communication stone usage, another boring story on earth. yawn. Hopefully this is goodbye, Young, she made up her mind.

+ Rush waking up and being kind of embarrassed. Caffeine withdrawal. Yeah that makes sense, especially for him and it's not something i would have expected. It's funny how such a simple explanation just feels right. No need to jazz it up.

+ CGI shots of the ship and planets, going through the gas giant, atmosphere of the planet all looked really good. Also the music in this scene was giving me some flashbacks to the earlier SG series in a real good way.

- Eli acting overly childish while dragging Chloe to the observation room. Quit being so lame. This didn't come off as cute and childlike to me.

- Trajectory has changed. Destiny is headed straight towards the sun. Hmmm not sure how i feel about this. I guess it wouldn't be very interesting if they just landed on planet paradise.

     I think this was an alright episode. Some of the acting seems a bit forced, but it's still early so i'm willing to let things smooth out a bit. I'm torn on the ending though. All the CGI work was really nice and i like them looking out at these new planets and solar systems and whatnot while unable to control the ship. Destiny. But crash into the sun? Really? Am i really supposed to believe that this would happen. The ancients don't have solar panels or something that can refill allowing the ship to veer off course at the last second or something to that effect? I dunno. I'm all for ending the episode on a cliffhanger, but how about one with more options. If they are either going to crash into the sun or not, i'm pretty sure they're not. Overall i liked this episode, but i feel like the show hasn't yet opened up. Maybe next week.
